By the age of five, most kids are ready to help choose their birthday party's theme. A few top themes include ninjas, dinosaurs, sports, superheroes, jump parties, Taylor Swift, and characters from their favorite TV shows and movies. First, ask your almost-5-year-old what they want. At their age, they'll want to be involved with some of the party planning, like the theme, guest list, and maybe even activities.

Easy but fun activities like arts and crafts, face painting, and games are perfect for this age, and if the time of the year is right, an outdoor party like a pool party is fantastic for excited and energetic kids.
