A collage of a bridal shower invitation and a bride-to-be celebrating.

We can hear the bells which means it’s time to start planning the ultimate bridal shower for the bride-to-be! Bridal showers provide a special opportunity for the bride-to-be to enjoy quality time with her closest friends and family as she prepares to enter a new chapter of her life. Give her the ultimate bridal shower with this expertly crafted bridal shower planning checklist!

The months and weeks leading up to a wedding can be stressful for anyone involved in the planning process, but especially for the bride-to-be. Giving her a fun and memorable bridal shower can help ease the stress of the wedding planning process—bridal showers are a time for the bride-to-be to relax, have fun and soak up the love! Plus, as she transitions into the newlywed life, a bridal shower is a great opportunity to support the bride-to-be with advice, words of encouragement and, of course, heartfelt gifts.

When should you have a bridal shower?

When to host the bridal shower is up to the host and the bride-to-be, though most bridal showers occur as early as three months before the wedding or as late as three weeks before the wedding. Remember, the closer it gets to the wedding day, the more stressful the planning process can be, so it is typically best to plan the bridal shower far enough in advance to ensure a fun and enjoyable experience for the bride-to-be and her guests.

Who throws a bridal shower?

Traditionally, the maid of honor is responsible for planning the bridal shower for the bride-to-be, though the host can really be anyone close to the bride (i.e. an aunt, the future mother-in-law, a close friend, etc.). Immediate family members generally do not serve as hosts for the bridal shower, though it is not unheard of for the mother or a sibling of the bride to host the bridal shower! It really depends on what makes the most sense for the bride and her bridal party.

If the maid of honor is hosting, the bridesmaids will play a big role in planning the bridal shower, helping the maid of honor throughout the process to ensure a smooth event. In some cases, the whole bridal party may choose to co-host the event together.
