Evite's Funeral Invitations are here to help

Planning a funeral, celebration of life, or memorial for a loved one is never easy. First and foremost, from all of us at Evite, we send our sincerest condolences and want to let you know we are here to help during this time.

Organizing a gathering of people near and dear to your loved one is a beautiful form of tribute, and is often one of the most important and emotional parts of this process.

With everything else there is to think about after someone passes, it's essential to make planning their memorial as effortless as possible. Evite is here to support by offering an assortment of Funeral Invitations and Celebration of Life Invitations to bring everyone together to celebrate your loved one's life.

Let us take a few things off your plate. All you need to do is add the details of the event and your guest info, and we'll track the RSVPs for you and send event reminders as needed.

What do I write on a memorial service invitation?

Funerals and memorials are usually personalized to reflect the loved one being honored, but there is some general information you should include: the name of the person being honored; their date of birth and date of passing; a photo of your loved one (optional); date, time, and location of service; and a short description of what is being planned.

Many people also include information about the family's wishes, where people can make donations or send flowers, or the dress code if the service is more formal.

If there is a gathering or celebration of life after the service is over, you should include this information so people can come prepared with stories, photos, and memories of your loved one to share if they wish.

Are there funeral invitation templates you can use?

Yes. Evite offers a beautiful assortment of customizable digital funeral invitation templates, many of which include room for a photo if you would like to share a special image of your loved one.

We have a variety of both free Invitation designs and Premium Invitations, which come with envelopes, backgrounds, stamps and liners. You can also opt to Design Your Own Invitation to fit your specific needs or vision.

What is the etiquette for sending memorial invitations?

Send out your memorial invitations as soon as you are able. Memorial services and celebrations of life often take place weeks or months after someone has passed away, but you still want to give family and friends plenty of time to make arrangements to attend.

When writing your memorial invitations, include information about the person you're honoring and all of the details around the service (date, time, location, dress code and type of service).

You can also choose to include more personal information about the person being honored if you feel comfortable.

Many people see planning a memorial as part of their grieving process, and knowing that you're bringing family and friends together to grieve and remember can make the process feel a little less overwhelming. Consider designating a co-host to help you during this difficult time—attendees may have questions about the memorial, so having someone else by your side is a benefit to all.

Can I send celebration of life invitations?

A celebration of life is typically less formal and time-sensitive than a funeral, but it still involves careful planning to gather everyone together.

Sending a Celebration of Life Invitation as soon as you are able ensures that the family and friends of the person being celebrated can make time to attend. Anyone who is invited to the funeral or service should be invited to the celebration of life, and you can hold a celebration of life weeks or even months after the funeral.

If the person being honored had a cause that was close to their heart, you can allow invitees to donate to it directly on your Evite if you wish.

Once the celebration of life is over, know that you can take as much time and space as you need to continue your grieving.

If you want to send Thank You Cards to friends and family who sent or brought flowers, donated to a cause, or went out of their way to help you during this time, Evite makes it easy to do that in just a few clicks, so you don't feel overwhelmed by your to-do list.

Please remember: when it comes to moments like this, it's never too late to acknowledge someone's thoughtfulness, so while it's typically recommended to send out thank you cards 2–3 weeks after an event has passed, you should feel free to take all the time you need.

What is the difference between a funeral and a celebration of life?

A funeral is typically a more traditional and formal ceremony that focuses on mourning and saying goodbye to someone who has passed away. Funerals may sometimes include religious or cultural rituals.

A celebration of life, on the other hand, is generally a more uplifting gathering that honors the person's memories, achievements, and the joy they brought to others.

Is there a way for guests to add photos of a loved one?

Yes. Evite allows you to add a shared photo album to your Invitation for free. This means guests can upload favorite photos of your loved one to a central place, with no storage limit capacity.

How else can I support friends and family who have lost a loved one?

One of the most thoughtful ways you can offer support to someone who has lost a loved one is by acknowledging their loss, and telling (and showing) them that you're there for them. Consider sending them a sympathy greeting card with a personal message of support, or offering to use Evite's SignUp Sheets to start a meal train to help them through a difficult time.
