There are so many iconic moments from The Princess Diaries movies forever embedded in our minds: The makeover scene, the mattress surfing scene, the mint sorbet brain freeze fiasco, Lilly being (brutally) blunt AF, that time when Mia and Nicholas professed their mutual loathing of each other by the fountain…

If you grew up on these movies, you know there is so much to love about Mia Thermopolis’ awkward teen to Genovian queen storyline. Which is why we are freaking out about the fact that Princess Diaries-themed parties are trending right now.

Maybe it’s because, at the end of 2022, Disney announced its plans for a third movie (eek!). Or, maybe it’s because Zillenials love a nostalgic moment. Either way, Princess Diaries parties are on the rise and, for that, we are grateful.

So, without further ado, here are our suggestions for throwing the ultimate Princess Diaries party.

Anne Hathaway’s outfit in the Princess Diaries poster was a cultural reset. Pay homage to this legendary look by grabbing a strapless white dress and accessorizing in true Mia Thermopolis style.

Pajama party vibes à la Princess Diaries 2

Let’s be honest: We all wish we could attend Mia’s bachelorette slumber party and mattress surf with Julie Andrews. While this may be nothing more than a pipe dream, a pajama party with your besties is absolutely achievable and no less awesome.

Bounce castle pillow fight

On a similar note: Yes, mattress surfing may be out of the question, but a pillow fight certainly is not. If you’re really ambitious, grab an inflatable bounce castle from Amazon for a royally awesome pillow fight location.

First things first: Genovia is known for its pears, so a faux-pear centerpiece is a must. You’ll also want to grab some paperware with a vintage feel and some candle sticks to elevate it all.

Makeover supplies

Her makeover practically invented the concept of makeovers. Enjoy an evening of pampering with makeovers in honor of the Princess of Genovia herself.
