Whether you’re planning ahead for your little one’s big day… or looking for a last-minute thoughtful gift for a birthday party this weekend, we’ve got you covered with gift suggestions from real parents and kids!

What we love about this list? Some things never change (we think it’s so sweet that kids are still asking for baseball cards), and some things are totally new… the construction toys from our days certainly didn’t have this many fancy features!

Find something for any kid in our 2025 Kids’ Birthday Gift Guide!

1. Tactile toys

From classic Play-Doh to delightful (but not messy) goos and gadgets like slime and Needoh, tactile toys are all the rage! Parent note… just make sure the little one you’re gifting these to is old enough to know not to eat them!

“My kids play with Play-Doh and Magnet Tiles daily! They’re my go-to for bday gifts.” - Kirra R.

2. Anything “make it yourself”

Lean into their interests with craft kits, science experiments, and build-your-own stuffed animal sets

3. Dolls and Jellycats

Talk about a cuteness overload. Try a classic like a mermaid or princess doll, find something extra special like a Truly Me American Girl doll, or opt for an adorable Jellycat

4. Tin Can phone

For the kid that’s been begging for a cell phone… try a Tin Can Phone so they can stay in touch with friends and family without any of that extra stuff!

5. Baseball cards

Talk about a total hit! Add to their collection with cards from their favorite team or player.

“The old-school gift that still wins! Baseball cards keep my 5-year-old entertained longer than anything else we own.” - Olivia P.

6. Celebrate with their favorite character

From Stitch to superheroes, choose a gift that highlights the character they’re obsessed with at this age. Whether that’s a t-shirt, a blanket, a game, or a figurine, they’re sure to love having their fave fictional friend with them!

7. Construction toys

These are a guaranteed delight for a little builder in your life. Pro tip: excavator toys are a huge hit this year!

8. Legos or magnet tiles

Keeping the building theme going… let them create to their hearts content with these colorful classics! Try a Lego set in a fun design or magnet tiles for something a little different!

9. The Genius Square

Here’s a gift the kids and parents will love! Engage their minds with this fun STEM puzzle game

“The sleeper gift of the year: Genius Square has my 5- and 8-year-olds glued on flights—and my husband and I fighting for who solves it fastest.” - Olivia P.

10. Watercolor workbook

Unleash their inner artist with a painting activity book that makes a totally unique gift. Plus, a chic design like this one from Emily Lex makes them feel totally “grown up”. Or opt for a classic from Amazon

At the end of the day, the best gift is one that comes from the heart! Our top advice? Listen to your little one! Ask them what they’ve been loving, or listen to what they’re telling their friends or siblings… we bet they’ve got a whole bunch of fun ideas for things they’d be delighted to receive!

And with that… let the gifting begin!
