How to build the most egg-cellent Easter basket ever

Written by Ali Baldwin
Years ago, when I worked in a toy shop as a buyer/helper of parents trying to find the perfect last-minute gifts for their littles, one of my fave times of the year was Easter. As a kid, I absolutely LOVED waking up on Easter Sunday to find a colorful basket filled with chocolate, jelly beans and the most random (but fun!) toys. Helping parents create sweet bunny-filled masterpieces of their own for their kids was ~almost~ as exciting as actually receiving a basket. (Okay, I love chocolate a little too much for that to be completely true.)
But yeah, long story short, I know a thing or two about helping people build amazing Easter baskets. And because Easter always sneaks up on the world every spring, I’ve found the best Easter basket fillers (and baskets) on Amazon for you to order and receive in two shakes of a lamb’s tail. Here’s how to create the perfect Easter basket!
Choose a cute basket

You can’t have an Easter basket without a basket! Bunny-bedecked baskets are always an adorable option, but this personalized dino (hey, they laid eggs!) basket and jelly bag are just too cool to not consider.
Fill it with a fun foundation

When I was a kid, the only Easter basket foundation filler available was the shiny, plastic, not-very-eco-friendly grass that ended up everywhere. Nowadays, there are tons of paper grass options and other creative ways to fill the base of your basket. Anyone else as surprised (and intrigued) by the existence of edible Easter grass candy as I am?
Add chocolate (it’s basically required)

Yes, yes, of COURSE, a chocolate bunny is a must (and Cadbury Creme Eggs!), but I have fond memories of waking up to a trail of Hershey’s chocolate eggs leading from my room to my Easter basket. Highly recommend it if your pet situation allows it.
Sweeten it further with candy!

Life is about balance, and what better way to balance out all of that chocolate than with some gooey marshmallow chicks and jelly beans? Also, you know a bag of “bunny farts” is immediately going to be a big hit with your kid.
Boost it with bunnies

You simply cannot have too many bunny gifts in an Easter basket. Whether you go for a cuddly plush they’ll cherish forever or a super trendy straw cover for their Stanley (or Stanley-esque) cup, it’ll hop onto their fave gifts list.
Hatch a plan to add some chickies

They don’t get the same fanfare as bunnies at Easter, but c’mon, a cute little chick is hard to resist. My top pick: the realistic chirping chicks.
Egg-cellent extras

Sure, an Easter egg hunt is a delightful way to ensure their baskets are filled with eggs. But if you don’t feel up to hiding dozens of eggs around your yard, these fun little finds will provide plenty of egg-citement for your kiddo!
Get creative

With all the egg-stra energy your kids are sure to have after eating a Willy Wonka-is-judging-you amount of sweets, put it to good use! Opt for art supplies and craft projects with a springtime theme to match the vibe of the season.
Add some random activities, too

I’m going to let you in on a little secret: Non-Easter-themed basket fillers are, in my experience, the most popular items to include in a basket. Both parents and kids alike love little gifts that can be enjoyed long after the holiday is over.
Include a little fashion

From funny Easter-themed novelties to rock during the egg hunt to warm-weather-ready pieces perfect for spring and summer, these accessories will def dress up your basket!
The write way to celebrate

When isn’t it a good time to give someone a book? And with classics like Peter Rabbit, Easter stories featuring current faves like Peppa and Bluey, and some very cool interactive books, it’s obviously worth finding room for a book (or 2) in your basket.
Add your finishing touches

Last, but not least, add a little more pizzazz to your (already very awesome) Easter basket! It can be as simple as a sweet bow or as practical as using plastic eggs or pretty cup liners to hold tiny gifts inside.
Now that you’re totally versed on how to create the best Easter basket ever, don’t forget to plan some other activities for that Sunday. Host an Easter brunch or Easter egg hunt with one of Evite’s Easter invitations! (BTW, in case you’re wondering, my personal favorite is this one.)
