Photos of Mia Charro, Car Pintos and Tània García.

In recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re showcasing the joyous art of Mia Charro, Car Pintos and Tània García. The diverse cultural contributions of the Hispanic artist community are well represented by these three uniquely talented artists, and we invite you to learn more about each of them!

Mia Charro

What excites you the most about seeing your work enjoyed around the world?

It is an enormous honor for me to have the opportunity to share my messages and my art with the world. Receiving feedback from people all over the world fills my heart with joy. There are even children's art schools that use my illustrations, specifically my Floral Friends, to teach their students how to paint. I feel enormously grateful.

What I value most is that my art is useful and touches people's hearts, that there is that moment of connection. When I receive messages like "your illustration made my day" or "I needed to hear that today," I feel very humbled and grateful.

How has the culture and region around you (Amorebieta in Vizcaya, Spain) influenced your creative process and art?

I am lucky to live in a beautiful place, full of mountains and nature. Also, I am 30 minutes away from the sea! Living surrounded by these landscapes has influenced me a lot, the colors, the birds singing, the opportunity to have a vegetable garden...

Nature is my source of inspiration, my pillar, my strength. I go to it when I feel tired and uninspired. And in its silence, I always find the answers I am looking for. The people of my region are also characterized by being fighters, proud and faithful to their ideas, and perhaps that has influenced me to have an attitude of "not giving up"—I'm a bit stubborn, hehe! Paramahansa Yogananda, in his book "Autobiography of a Yogi" (a book I recommend to everyone, by the way,) talks about the importance of willpower. I think it is one of the engines of the world.

How can people support Hispanic artists in a meaningful way?

I think it is important to know and value other cultures, since we all have to learn a lot from each other. Opening our minds to other possibilities and other worlds makes us grow as people and allows us to develop. No one evolves if they stay in their comfort zone. I believe that the richness of Spanish culture lies in its incredible diversity—its historical, cultural, and, of course, gastronomic (😋) variety—throughout the centuries. If you want to participate and get to know this richness, I personally recommend going to exhibitions and visiting museums. You can share the work of the artists you like, buy some of their works for yourself or give them to a good friend.

We are all one, and we grow by supporting each other.

Car Pintos

What excites you the most about seeing your work enjoyed around the world?

For me, the most exciting thing about my work is knowing that I can come into homes through my illustrations and fill them with energy and happiness. Art is a way of traveling, so I feel that part of myself is always moving.

How has the culture and region around you (Mar Chiquita in Argentina) influenced your creative process and art?

I moved from Buenos Aires to Mar del Plata, and now I live in Mar Chiquita, a super natural and beautiful place. Coming here changed my way of looking at my environment. I am immersed in nature, and my creativity is inspired by it. That's why I always work with flowers, the sea, fishes, butterflies, swallows and flamingos. I see them all around me, and they fill me with energy and inspiration.

How can people support Hispanic artists in a meaningful way?

In Latin America, we have great artists—real talent. I think the best way to support us is by providing opportunities for us to work on collabs. Give us the chance to expand our voices to the world and share our values and originality through our art on products.

Tània García

What excites you the most about seeing your work enjoyed around the world?

I really like spreading positivity with my art, so the more widespread it is, the more impact my message will have and the happier it makes me.

How has the culture and region around you (Barcelona in Catalonia, Spain) influenced your creative process and art?

Barcelona is a visual delight. It has a fascinating culture where the traditional and the modern are mixed and there is art on every corner. The magic of color on Gaudí’s architecture, friendly people, the sunny weather, the cafes and restaurants, and the wide range of fun activities put me in the mood to make joyful and fresh illustrations with vibrant colors.

How can people support Hispanic artists in a meaningful way?

Hispanic Heritage Month is a good opportunity to discover new artists who bring their own rich and different vision of art through their own culture and experiences. Buy their artwork as a gift, tell your friends about them, share their work through social media and encourage friends and family to do the same.
