Supper clubs are here to stay. Evolving from an emerging trend to a well-cemented event category, supper clubs have been a breakout theme of recent years.
The draw of the supper club is its balance of delicious food and meaningful conversation. It’s a party for a host who appreciates curation—of menus, tablescapes, and guest lists, too.
While some more formal ones boast months-long wait lists, we learn towards the cozy DIY dining clubs that happen in your home. No “if you know you know”. Just “hey, want to come over?”
The combination of a classic dinner party with the totally trending “club” element (like pickleball club or book clubs) makes this a must-try party theme for everyone from amateur to pro hosts.
Create your own supper club for friends and delight in an evening of conversation, delicious food, and a comforting sense of community.
What is a supper club?
A supper club is a social event with a curated dining experience front and center. Supper clubs aim to create community in real-life settings and often feature unique themes or special elements.
From a jazz club-inspired dinner to a farm-to-table fixed menu event, supper clubs focus on food and communal experience as hallmarks of a successful gathering.
How to host a supper club

- Consider your guest list. We recommend keeping the list to a size that's realistically manageable for you to cook for! Or, don’t be afraid to make it potluck-style!
- Pick a theme, if you want. Supper clubs don’t have to have specific themes, but they certainly can! Keep reading for a few theme ideas we’re loving right now.
- Keep your menu focused. Food is the star of this event, so set yourself up for success by picking items you know you can nail! We recommend having a starter that doesn’t require cooking (like a salad or charcuterie spread) so you only have to manage cook times on a few elements!
- Add a playlist. Since this event is mainly about the food and guests, you likely won’t have too many additional activities going on. Make the space feel lively from start to finish with a playlist that captures the essence of the event.
- Figure out your seating. Think about if you want guests seated at a table eating all at once or standing and nibbling over the course of the evening.
- Let the evening flow! The great part about a supper club is that it doesn’t require much structure. If it starts with food and ends with guests playing board games on the floor, you’ve found the magic of the supper club!
