Meet Evite & Pledge’s February birthday heroes ⭐

When we first added the Donations feature to our site in partnership with Pledge, we never dreamed it would take on a life of its own (or that we would hit over $50 million in donations). Ahh, but it has — and this could not have happened without the incredible kids who, year after year, have chosen to ask for charitable contributions in lieu of birthday presents. It makes us emotional just writing about it. These stories have been nothing short of lifechanging, inspiring, and deeply humbling for us, and it is the very least we can do to highlight members of the next generation who are lighting the way for the future.
Each month, we’ll be putting the spotlight on a few wonderful kids who have chosen to forgo gifts in support of a cause they care about. Please join us in appreciating their stories and dreams. We know we’re going to carry this generous and heartwarming energy into the rest of our day, and we hope you do, too.
Meet Obi
In support of Orangutan Foundation International

When Obi first learned about the danger that orangutans are put in due to deforestation for palm oil plantations, he was ready to jump into action. For two years in a row now, Obi has asked friends to donate to Orangutan Foundation International instead of buying him birthday gifts. But, his contributions don’t stop at his birthday party. Obi regularly checks ingredients on products at the store to buy palm oil-free products, educates those around him about the endangerment of orangutans, and has even fostered one through Orangutan Foundation International. Great work, Obi!
Meet Nora
In support of Cradles to Crayons

After volunteering with her mom, 9-year-old Nora asked her friends to donate to Cradles to Crayons for her birthday this year. She loves their mission to make all kids feel good and to make sure they have clothes that keep them warm in the winter. Nora reminds us that “you can make a big change in the world, even though you’re just a kid.” That’s right, Nora! And you’re doing it. 👏
Meet Chloe
In support of St. Jude

Chloe is a fierce, generous, and empathetic first grader who decided to raise money for an organization very close to her heart this year. When she was diagnosed with brain cancer at just three years old, she discovered the importance of dedicated care for child patients. For her birthday, Chloe chose to give back to kids who are still fighting because she wants to make sure that no child goes through cancer alone, and now, Chloe is cancer free! Chloe, you have truly inspired our team — you are a role model for us all!
Evite is proud to contribute $500 to each of the organizations selected by our birthday heroes, in their names. Want to follow in their footsteps and add a Donation to your next event? Learn more here.
