Chowing with the Hounds Picnic 2008. Our eighth picnic will take place in Tilden Regional Park in the East Bay (Laurel Picnic Area) in a celebration of Food, Camaraderie and Fun. This year a Beer Tasting event! Try to identify 20 locally made brews!!! A cook-off for a noodle dish by some VERY special chefs!
We recommend registering as soon as possible since space is limited and food categories will fill up. There will be limited registrations at the door! Please limit guests to a maximum of two per Hound. The cost is a $16 donation per adult which covers the expenses of rental, supplies, tastings (!) and the picnic website. One child under 12 is free for each paid adult admission. You can pay via PayPal or mail check to: Chowing with the Hounds, 101 Appleton Ave San Francisco, CA 94110. NOTE: your PayPal and registration name MUST match, otherwise we do not know if you paid! Let us know if they are different!!!
What Food To Bring: (Sign up for a category.) A shared dish to feed 20. If you don't know what to make or don't have time to cook, you are welcome to bring prepared foods from your favorite outlet. The barbecue from down the street, the bread from the bakery across town, the ice cream from your favorite parlor, whatever! Please see instructions to sign up for a category so not everyone brings the same dishes! We encourage more main dishes since those are in short supply!

I am so very excited and finally, I've got a head count ! There will be six adults and three kids. Each of the three couples will bring a fabulous addition to our meal. In addition, Vic and Cyn Kralj of the B Street Bistro in Hayward will join us; they are providing us with the select northern California brew for our blind beer sampling and judging event.
Looking forward to the gathering of chowhounds from all over the world! I've been chatting with some of you about ideas for the table, and the array of food promises to be the best ever.
Just to respond that your e-mail reaches everyone far and wide and w always read the SF board regulary. Another conflict that day. Too bad there is no sampling of leftovers on Sunday, looking to next year.
Wish I could be there, but will be gearing up for our annual Pacific Pinball Expo in San Rafael that weekend. Can't wait to hear stories and see pictures of the delicious dishes, though. Enjoy!
Darn it. Sorry I can't make it. My husbands company has volunteered to help with Russian River clean up that day so I will be spending my day cleaning a river! Have a wonderful picnic,,,
