Middletown Days happens
Father's Day Weekend, June 16th and 17th. The parade begins at 11 a.m. on Calistoga (Main) Street in
Downtown Middletown and is followed up with a festival a short distance down the street in
Middletown Central Park.
Last year, 30
Middletown High School students initiated a successful letter-writing campaign that resulted in the appearance of
Adam Housley, correspondent for the
Fox News Channel. This year, based upon that success, 110 letter were written by students inviting high-profile visitors for the festivities including -
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and his wife,
Maria Shriver, Steve Jobs of Apple Computer, John Stossel of ABC's "20/20," George Lucas of LucasFilms Ltd., Doug McConnell of KRON 4 TV's "Bay Area Backroads," Plan-It Locations (a Hollywood locations company) and of course, the
Fox News Channel. Will any of these folks actually become involved in
Middletown Days this year? There is only one way to be sure. Plan to be present. Local students certainly seem to be very optimistic.
Once again this year you can count on involvement from
KXBX Radio.
Eric Patrick will be the
Voice of Middletown this year.
David Neft of
Neft & Neft Realty will be providing the public address system and the music.
Shelly Mascari, owner of the
Crave Coffee House will be singing our national anthem to kick off the parade. Shelly actually sang the
Star-Spangled Banner for none other that
General Norman Schwartzkoff at a rally in Los Angeles. The general was so impressed he requested she sing it the next time he comes to Los Angeles for a rally. And, Shelly lives here in Lake County. She is one of us. Be sure to come early and get a good seat for the parade and to hear Shelly sing. If you have not heard the radio commercial for
