NYC has started the Summer Streets pilot program. Park Avenue will be closed to traffic for 7 miles from Brooklyn Bridge to 72nd Street on Saturdays in August. Lets bike it!

We'll take the PATH train to the WTC, then bike over a few blocks to the start point next to City Hall. We'll ride the entire traffic free route up to 72nd street. Then we'll cut into Central Park to do a loop. After that we'll ride back to the WTC. It will be about 20 miles total.

Route MAP

We won't be making any stops in Manhattan except at water fountains, as we have to be done with our entire ride by 1pm when they open up the streets to traffic again. When we are done we'll take the PATH to JC and go to Torico's for home made ice cream (several dozen flavors) !

BRING:
Helmet , Water, Sunscreen, Air Pump, Spare Tube, Patch Kit, Cell Phone, $

DIRECTIONS FROM HOBOKEN:
Take the 10:17 PATH train headed to JSQ Journal Square.
Go 2 stops and get off at Grove Street arriving at 10:23.

That is where I will be meeting you.
Cross the platform and get on the 10:30 PATH train to WTC, arriving there at 10:37. We might all be in different train cars, so we will gather outside the PATH at the intersection of Vesey & Greenwich street at 10:45.

NYC Rules for Cyclists & Skaters:

Pedestrians ALWAYS have the right of way, so yield to them
Keep right, pass left
Pass others safely: look and signal with your voice or bell before changing lanes
Be mindful of children and older folks
Helmets are ALWAYS a good idea, no matter how old you get.
Always ride in the direction of traffic and obey all posted traffic signs and regulations
Never bike on the sidewalks!
