Please join us in celebrating the start of the academic year at the Kansas City Design Center's new home at 1018 Baltimore Avenue in downtown Kansas City.
Fifteen years ago, faculty from KU and K-State joined forces with local architects and civic leaders to create a new center to promote excellence in the design of Kansas City's built environment.
Our move into a freestanding facility marks a significant milestone in the Design Center's growth.
Our opening reception will unveil our 10,000 square foot state-of-the-art urban laboratory, which features studio, classroom, and pin-up space, as well as a dramatic storefront gallery and ubiquitous WiFi.
In addition to accommodating 16 fifth-year students who are in residence throughout the academic year, the new facility enables visiting faculty and students from KU and KSU to work, study, and engage with community leaders and organizations in Kansas City.
We would like to extend our thanks to DST Realty, HOK, 360 Architects and HNTB, who generously donated furnishings and other finishing touches for our new home. We also thank the Hall Family Foundation and the William T. Kemper Foundation/Commerce Bank Trustee, for their continuing support.
The reception begins at 5:00pm and concludes at 7:30pm. Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be served.
The reception is open to the public, so please feel free to forward this eVite to friends and colleagues.
