You are cordially invited to join us for our 4th Annual Constance Baker Motley Civil Rights Fellowship Luncheon on Tuesday, June 2nd.
This year we are featuring Tom Saenz, counsel to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. Saenz is a former Vice President of MALDEF, a national organization dedicated to securing and promoting the civil rights of Latinos in the United States, where he served as lead counsel in numerous cases involving such issues as educational equity, employment discrimination, immigrants' rights, day laborer rights, and voting rights. He served as MALDEF's lead counsel in successfully challenging California's Proposition 187 in court, presenting extensive arguments on numerous occasions in three different cases involving the anti-immigrant initiative.
The Judge Constance Baker Motley Fellowship was established to invigorate the next generation of progressive legal practitioners seeking to transform anti-discrimination law and policy. Proceeds from the luncheon will go towards supporting the 2009-10 fellowship of a recent law school graduate committed to advancing racial justice through innovative legal strategies and progressive public policy.
Do not miss this opportunity to share an inspiring lunch with longtime colleagues and new friends.
