Did you know...

- An estimated 1 in 10 Asians and Pacific Islanders - potentially over 50,000 residents in Santa Clara County - may be chronically infected with hepatitis B and unaware of their infection.

- There are almost 7,000 API patients currently waiting for an organ (e.g., kidney or liver) transplant, with a majority of these patients residing in the State of California

- There is a critical shortage of Asian donors since only 7% of the 7 million people on the National Registry of Potential Marrow/Stem Cell Donors are Asian. So chances of finding the best match are less than 1 in a million!

First Thursdays invites you to discover how health organizations like the Stanford Liver Center, California Transplant Donor Network, and the Asian American Donor Program have responded to these health disparities within the Asian Pacific American community. Come find out what preventive measures you can take to avoid some of these illnesses, and what services these organizations are providing for patients and families.
