Calling All Scouts!!
Celebrating 100 Years Together
2010 is the 100 year anniversary of Boy Scouts in America and of Troop 1 in Mill Valley. Please join us on Memorial Day for the Mill Valley Parade, followed by our own picnic.
Scouts will serve as the Color Guard for the entire Parade, marching at the front. All the Units will march behind the Color Guard, but also have some of their members help with it as well. This is a wonderful opportunity to present Scouting to the community, and for all the Scouting units to have a nice event together. Parades call for uniforms, and this will be for Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Brownies, Explorer Scouts, Venture Scouts, and every Scout.
We will meet in Lytton Square at 9:30 AM on Memorial Day. The route will be down Miller Ave., ending at Tam High. United Methodist Church is a short walk from there, and is located across from Mill Valley Middle School. Our picnic will be from 12 Noon until 2 PM. The church might be a good place to park before the parade. More fun and entertainment will be available at the Community Center until 5 PM, where there will be music, games, and food.
In order to make all this happen, your reply is need now. We have to know how many will march, and how many will be at the picnic. Please help with this by sending your reply no later than Monday May 24. This is being organized on short notice, as you can tell. Please check our website for any last minute changes.(Troop1marin.com) We will do our best this year, and look for this to become one of our Scouting traditions. We hope you can come.
