This past week, 11 of our students went to Odessa, Ukraine. Come to Shabbat Dinner this week to hear more about their experiences and have some Ukrainian food.
Shabbat is the seventh day of the week, the original day of rest from biblical times that Jews traditionally welcome at sunset on Friday afternoon and celebrate all the way until Saturday night. Shabbat is a celebratory day of good food, community, and learning.
Every Friday UMBC Hillel hosts Shabbat celebrations at the Interfaith Center. You can come for Candle Lighting at 5:45PM, services at 6:00 PM, dinner at 7:00 PM, or all three. Dinner is free and the entire UMBC community is welcome.
We would like, if everyone could bring any loose change you may have from the week and drop it in the Tzedakah box before candle lighting.
Food this week provided by Kosher Bite.
The following day Shabbat lunch (yummy bagels and spreads) will be provided in the Interfaith Center at 12pm.
We are grateful to the Nathan and Lillian Weinberg Family Foundation for generously supporting Shabbat at UMBC.
Help is very much appreciated, please show up at 3pm if you want to help.
Hope to see you there!!
