Recent news stories have indicated that many companies are pulling the plug on holiday parties because of the economy. We think this sends the wrong message to employees and is bad for morale. While Viacom gave 2 additional personal days to their employees, we intend to move forward with the 18th Annual Smith-Roberts Holiday Party. However, we thought we would take a page from a company we heard about who instead of throwing their office holiday bash will be donating to charity. So with that sense of holiday spirit and hope, we are asking you to bring a contribution (whatever you can afford to give) to The Other Place, a homeless shelter here in Dayton. Please join us as we end 2008 with a celebration of our friends and a look ahead to 2009! As always, it will be the 3rd Saturday in December :)<

Ann and John - It turns out I forgot about a family obligation in Columbus on Saturday. If I am able, I will stop by on my way home from Columbus. If I don't make it, have a Merry Christmas!
It turns out that I answered yes before we realized we had theater tickets for that night that we can't change. If it's not too late for us old folks, we will stop by after the theater. We will have an additional guest who is going to the theater with us. In any case, thanks for the invite and have a great Christmas and New Year.
I unfortunately have another commitment that night, but I am going to try to stop by. Your parties are always the best. Love the idea of supporting The Other Place-they do so much for our community. Happy Holidays!
