Hi APIQWTC and friends dragonboat paddlers!
Here it is.. another year!
Time to stretch out the back and prepare to paddle for your life! for more info about the race and the beneficiaries (includes women's cancer resource center this year), see www.paddleforlife.org
The Races will be held June 6 (Saturday) in OAKLAND.
They have changed the format a little bit, with 10-person boats instead of 20-person boats, and a $500/team registration fee. I think we can field TWO teams, which would mean that we'd also get to race against each other! But that would mean paying more registration fees. APIQWTC can chip-in for some of the registration...
If people are so inclined, you all could also host a fundraiser or two to raise funds towards the registration and reduce the cost per person. They also have sponsorship forms if you think that will be helpful, too.
We also have a bunch of leftover long-sleeve T's from last year.
Unless we find another way to reduce the costs, the total cost per person will be $35 registration (already includes contribution from APIQWTC) + tshirt (if needed, $5-10 sls) + tent rental (or people can bring) + potluck.
Practices will be held in May. Please plan to attend at least two practices:
May 10 -SUNDAY- Mother's Day 10:30 am - 12 noon May 17 - SUNDAY 12noon-1:30 pm May 31 SUNDAY - 10:30 am-12 noon.
(sorry these are all Sundays, but those were the most popular days)
PLEASE ARRIVE ON TIME Be prepared to get wet - wear poly or non-cotton Bring a towel for your car Bring a water bottle Bring your checkbook or cash $35
We have a bunch of long-sleeve shirts from last year.
Participant waivers for Berkeley practice sites and race day event to follow via email before the first practice. Minimum age is 12 years old. Bring your daughter or niece or granddaughter!
If you want to remind yourselves how to paddle, feel free to attend one of the free practices at BAD (www.bayareadragons.org) or Dragonmax (www.dragonmax.org)
Let me know if you're interested and available. This is an APIQWTC sponsored event; feel free to bring your friends. If necessary, priority for the race event will be given to people who have attended more practices.
