Los Angeles - June 2, 2004 - Evite, the leading free online event planning service, complete with invitations and local event listings, was honored by PC World with a 2004 World Class Award for best Web-Based Application. The World Class Award winners were announced in the July 2004 issue of PC World (online now and available on newsstands June 15).
In November 2003, Evite added new features which provided users with the opportunity to create listings for local events and activities, search a Local Events Directory, communicate personal interests through the creation of individual 'My Info' Pages, and the ability to email hosts or invitees through a private personal Evite inbox. Since Evite launched on the Web in 1998, the site has delivered over 180 million invitations. "Fandango Bag Puppet" characters, which star in the company's in-theater trailers.
Celebrating its 22nd year, the respected World Class Awards honor the best in computers, hardware, software, and the Internet. To select the best of the best, PC World's editors examined the entire spectrum of products that have appeared in or were submitted to the magazine over the past 12 months. Hundreds of products in 67 categories were judged on usability, design, innovation, features, performance, and value.
