New Invitation Layout
What has changed with the new layout of the Evite Invitation?
We have made the space available to the main image larger. We've also moved all Host and Guest tools to the left hand side so you can easily access them. We also added a link to "Print Invitation.".
Where are my host editing options?
You can find the host editing options in your "Host Toolbox." It is located on the left side of the page.
Why do I have to scroll left to right to view my invitation?
We have changed the screen size of our invitation to be 1024 x 768 pixels. In order to avoid scrolling to view your invitation, you can change the resolution size on your monitor. To do so, you can right click on your Desktop and scroll to Properties. In the Properties menu, click on the Settings tab. Use the bar to adjust your Screen Area. Adjust it to be 1024 x 768 or larger.

Evite Widget for Apple users on Mac OS X.
Never miss another party! The Evite.com widget allows users to stay on top of their social life. The widget keeps track of invitations by displaying the name and date of upcoming events. Additional features include event reminders, RSVP notification, new designs and local bar and restaurant search. The widget is available for download from Apple's Mac OS X downloads page at www.apple.com/macosx/downloads.
Past Invites/ Archives
My event has passed, is my Invite gone?
No, your Invites will always be accessible and archived in your Evite account. Log in to your account and you will be on your Home page. Click on the link to Past Invites, and it will take you to a page with all your Past Invites, Host and Guest. NOTE: You will have the ability to see the Original Invite for 30 days, after this time you will only be able to see your event details.
Host View- Invited by
As the host of an event, how can I tell who invited new guests to my event?
If there is a guest on your guest list that you did not invite, but was invited by another guest, there will be an icon next to their name. The icon will be a sunburst and you can click on the icon to view who invited that person to your event.
Free Service
Are these new services free?
Evite is a completely free service. It is free to send invitations, promote your local event, find things to do in your area, and look for places to go (restaurants, bars, and more).
Canadian and International Customers
I do not live in the United States, can I still use Evite?
Yes, you can use Evite to create and send Private Evite Invitations. But, we do not fully support Canadian and International customers via zip codes. So, you will not be able to post or search for Local Events, and you will not be able to map your locations using our mapping links on the Private and Local events create.

My Profile
What is My Profile?
When you register for Evite you will be asked to fill out a public profile called your Profile, this feature is optional. You are only required to fill out your Profile when posting a Public Event. You will be required to create an alias. Your alias is used to set up your Evite Message Center, which allows you to contact other users and ensures that your email address remains private.
Can I update my account information without creating a profile?
Yes. In order to update your account information without creating a profile, only respond to the questions at the top of the My Information page. To save changes to your account information, click on the button that says "Save Account Info." Note: If you decide to add any profile information, be sure to use the "Save All Info" button at the bottom of the page. If you use the "Save Account Info" button, only your account information will be saved and any profile information you entered will be lost.
How do I save my profile?
When you are updating your profile, please be sure to use the "Save All Info" button at the bottom of the page. If you use the "Save Account Info" button, it will only save your account information. In order to save your profile, you must use the "Save All Info" button.
Where is My Profile page displayed?
Once you have created your Profile it will be viewable on all Evite guest lists if you have chosen to make your Profile public. An icon will be displayed next to your name indicating that you have a Profile posted. If you RSVP to a public event, you have the option to RSVP anonymously, to hide your alias and Profile.
How do I hide my My Profile page on Evite Invitations?
To hide your My Profile page, log into your Evite account, click Edit My Info in the My Information box, scroll down to Profile Information, under Privacy Options, check the circle next to Hide My Profile, then click Save All Info at the bottom of the page. Your profile will be hidden from all other guests.
Can I upload any kind of photo?
No, the photograph you upload should be of you and should be current. We will accept photographs which show yourself plus another adult person (spouse, family member, etc.) and/or your children. Your face should be clearly visible in the photo. We will also accept a graphic containing a logo, provided that you are the copyright owner. Photographs may not contain images of children alone, cartoons, comics, celebrities, nudity, artwork, obscene or otherwise inappropriate images (as determined in Evite’s sole discretion). Photographs containing only animals are not appropriate, but Users may supply photographs of themselves together with pets. We reserve the right to remove your photo if you violate our Terms of Service.
Can I email someone outside of Evite from Evite Message Center
No, you can only contact other Evite users via the Message Center. This messaging feature is specifically for the use of organizing your events, activities, and your own social community within Evite.
How do users contact me?
Users can contact you by viewing your Info page and sending you a message by clicking the 'Contact' link.
Can I block users from contacting me?
Yes, if you are getting unwanted messages, you can block the user from contacting you. You can block the person by clicking on the link found next to the sender's name on the message.
Alias
How do I change my alias?
Please Log in to your account. From your Home page, click on My Information, and click on the Change Alias link. You will have to enter your new alias into the field and press Save & Submit. NOTE: Your alias is not the same as your Evite login. Your alias is name you create to maintain your privacy on Evite. Your login is your email address you registered with on Evite.
Adding/Changing Emails
How can I change/delete my email address from my account profile?
Log into Evite and go to My Information. Under the Email Address Section there is a link to Add an Email Address. Enter the new email address where you want your Evite Invitations to be sent. A confirmation email will be sent to this address, click on the confirmation link to activate the new email address. You can then delete the old email address. Note: Changes made to addresses will not affect Evite Invitations that have already been sent.
How do I delete an email address from my account profile?
You will have to add the new email address to your account to delete the old email. An email address must be associated with your Evite account at all times. So, log into Evite and go to My Information from your Home Page. Under the Email Address Section there is a link to Add an Email Address. Enter the new email address where you want your Evite Invitations to be sent. A confirmation email will be sent to this address, click on the confirmation link to activate the new email address. Once you set the new email as Primary a Delete link will be next to the unwanted email address. Click on that link to delete it. Note: Changes made to addresses will not affect Evite Invitations that have already been sent.
Merging Accounts- Do you have more than one Evite account?
How do I merge two email accounts?
Please Log In to the Evite account you want to be the Primary account. Go to My Information from your Home and click on the link Add an Email Address. Add your other email address of the account you want to merge into the field and it will prompt you for the password for the account, enter your password and if you have a Profile for either account it will ask you to choose which Profile you want to keep. When you opt in to the Profile you want to keep it will then merge both accounts and list the additional email address in your My Information page. The merged account will share your current password. Any invitations, events, reviews or favorites that were stored on your other account will be transferred to this account. During this time you do not have to remain on this page. When your request is finished processing, the new email address will be added to your My Information page and merge any account information when applicable.
How long will it take to merge my accounts?
Your request to merge your accounts will be processed in the order which it is received. Depending on how many people are attempting to merge their accounts at once, the time it takes to merge will vary, but could take up to 24 hours to process. Please be patient, and note that you do not need to remain on the page that messages the status of your merge request.
Forgot Password
Help! I forgot my password! What do I do?
If you cannot remember your password, click on Home to get to our registration page. On the left hand column, click on the Forgot Password link and enter your email address. Your password will be sent to you via your email address. If you clicked, "Remember Me" and are automatically logged in to your Evite account and you still cannot remember your password, you will be able to access the Forgot Password link from your My Information page as well.
How do I change my password?
Log In to Evite and go to the My Information link from your Home Page. Under Account Information, you will see the Change Password section. You will have to enter your current password and then enter your new password twice to process the change and press Save.
Unsubscribe/Delete Accounts
How do I subscribe/unsubscribe to newsletters?
Log In to Evite, go to My Information from your Home Page and check/uncheck the Evite Newsletter option. NOTE: This ONLY unsubscribes you from Evite Newsletters, not Evite Invitations or Reminders.
How do I unsubscribe to Evite reminders?
The only way to not receive Evite Reminders, is to contact the host of the event and have them remove the Reminder Email option. The host cannot remove individual reminders, they are either sent to all individuals on the guest list or not at all.
How do I remove my account?
If, unfortunately, you would like to remove your account from our system, you must contact our customer service department at support@evite.com. Please make sure you email from the account you want to delete to process this transaction immediately.
Unable to Log In/Cookies
What is a Cookie?
When you visit our site, our server sends your computer a cookie. Your browser must be set to accept the cookies in order to login to Evite and access your personal information. These cookies are small packets of information that identify you as a user of Evite. Cookies save you time by retaining your contact information. Cookies do not deliver viruses, and can only be read by the server that sent you the cookie.
How do I turn on cookies in Microsoft IE?
1. In the browser - choose Tools
2. Select Internet Options
3. Click the Security tab
4. Click Internet, then Custom level
5. Scroll down to Cookies and choose one of the two options.
How do I turn on cookies in Netscape browsers?
1. From the Edit menu, select Preferences
2. Click Advanced
3. Click to select the box labeled Accept All Cookies.
4. Click Ok.
Why can't I log on?
If you are experiencing difficulties logging in, please check your browser settings and make sure that your cookies are turned on. To do this, select the Tools menu in your browser window and go to Internet Options. Select the Privacy tab and make sure that cookies are allowed. If your cookies are turned on and you still can't log in, please try deleting your cookies. You can do this by going to the Tools menu, select Internet Options and go to the General tab and click on Delete Cookies. In addition, if your password contains symbols or spaces, it will prevent you from logging into your account. Please contact us for both circumstances.

Finding a Location
When I am planning my event, how do I search for a location to host at?
In order to Search for a Venue while planning an event, you will need to enter a keyword and the zip code of the venue you are looking for. The search function will match by exact name or with fewer letters. Unfortunately, the search will not pull up results if you enter extra letters. We are currently working to correct this. You can also search for a place to hold your event by clicking on the Places to Go tab.
Gift Exchange
What is a Gift Exchange and how can I include one on my Evite invitation?
A gift exchange is a fun event where names are assigned to other attendees to buy gifts and exchange them at the event. Guests will need to guess who bought the gift for them. When you are planning your gift exchange and sending out the Evite Invitation, you can click the link on the create page to "Include a Gift Exchange." The module will expand down, and in that section you can enter all your gift exchange info.
Do you have tips for planning a great Gift Exchange?
You can view our Gift Exchange party tips by clicking the link on the Invitation that says, "Host a gift exchange." It is under the Planning tips section of the invitation. View Gift Exchange planning tips.
How will my guests know this is a gift exchange event?
When the guests are responding to your Evite Invitation, they will see a checkbox in the reply area. They will be able to opt in to be part of the gift exchange.
Why do I have to plan my Evite Gift Exchange 8 days in advance?
An email will be sent to all of your guests that decided to participate in the gift exchange, telling them who is their selected gift recipient. They will be given the name of a guest that they will buy a gift for. This email is sent 7 days before the event so everyone has time to participate in the Gift Exchange. Your guests will need to reply to the Gift Exchange 8 days in advance to participate.
Do I have to suggest a price for guests to spend on gifts?
If you would like to give guests an idea of what is appropriate to spend, you can enter the exact amount, or the price range into the create form. You do not have to enter an amount if you choose not to.
Can I take part in a Gift Exchange even if I can't make it to the party?
In order to take part in a Gift Exchange, you need to respond "Yes" to the event. If you respond "Maybe" or "No" you will not be able to opt in to the Gift Exchange.
What types of events will not work with a Gift Exchange?
You cannot include a Gift Exchange if the guest list is hidden, if you have a recurring event, or if you let guests suggest a date and time. We need to know the date you have selected for your event so we can send out the Gift Exchange emails in time.
What if I am bringing a guest to the event? Can I opt them into the Gift Exchange as well?
Your guest will need to reply to the event themselves. You can use the "Invite More" feature to add them to the guest list if the host allows. Then your guest can reply to the event and opt in to the Gift Exchange.
New Email Look
How is the image selected to include in the event emails?
All event emails now match the design you selected. The image is based on the design you selected. Some email correspondence will just carry through the colors from the design you selected. We are in the process of creating images for all invitation designs. In the Design Gallery, you will see an icon next to each design that has matching images in the email.
How can I see what the emails will look like for each design I select?
In the Design Gallery, when you click into a design, there will be icons beneath the design. You can click them to view the Invitation email as well as the Guest Reminder email. You can also click to preview the Invitation email directly from the create page.
Naming Your Event
Do I have to think of a name for my event?
Yes, it is required to provide a name for your event.
Is there a limit of characters that I can use when naming my event?
Yes. The maximum number of characters that can be included in the name of your event is 50. Please note that special characters (&, <, >, ') will count as five characters each. You will receive an error if you enter more than 50 characters.
Sending Evite Invitations- Name/ Email Address
Do I have to send my Evite invitations as soon as I create them?
No. If you decide you want to save your Evite Invitation to work on later, you can Save your Evite Invitation as a draft. When you decide to send your invitations, you will just need to go back to the Evite Invitation, make any changes and click on Send. Your Evite Invitation will be saved as a draft under Upcoming Events on your Home page.
Can I change my guest list to show names instead of email addresses?
To have your guest's names appear on an Evite Invitation rather than their email addresses, you must first enter them in your Evite Contact Manager as such: John Smith . Please add them to your Evite Invitation before sending it out unless they are already registered. (Registered users names automatically appear). If you add them after the send, you will have to remove them and resend. If you do decide to remove your guest they will receive an email telling them they have been removed, so make sure you let your guest know beforehand.
How can I have my guest's name appear in, "Hello_______you are invited"?
Currently, we do not have an option for a Host to display guests by name in this feature. This is performed automatically by our system only if the guest has registered for an Evite account, otherwise, their email address will be displayed.
How do I invite a guest without an email address?
If you want someone to appear on your Evite Invitation guest list and they don't have an email address, you can use a "dummy" email address and attach a real name to that address. To do this, enter your guest's name in the following format: FirstName LastName <fakename@domain.com> (Ex: Jane Smith <fakename@domain.com>, or Joe <joe@fake.com>. Unfortunately, you'll receive some email bounce backs but your guests will be on the list. Then, contact those guests however you choose (e.g. phone, fax, regular mail), and when you know if they're planning to attend, you can go to your Evite Invitation, click Edit Guest Replies, choose the guest's name, enter their RSVP info and click Update Now.
Poll Your Guests
Can I ask my guests specific questions pertaining to the event?
Yes, when creating your Evite Invitation click on the Poll your guests link under "Other Options," and then you can create questions to get a group consensus about your event. (Example: What kind of music would you like to hear at the party?) Your guests' responses will be viewable from your host view of the Evite Invitation under the View Guest Responses link. To get to the Evite Invitation, click on the event title under your Upcoming Events from your Home page.
How do I check my guests' responses to my questions?
To see the answers to your questions pertaining to your event, go to your host view of the Evite Invitation and click on the View Guest Responses link. You can get to the Evite Invitation by clicking on the title of the event from your Upcoming Events on your Home Page.
What To Bring
Can I ask my guests to bring specific items to the party?
Yes, when planning your private event, you can click on the What To Bring link under "Other Options", and enter what you would like your guests to bring via the itemized checklist section. To plan a private event, click on the Plan an Event tab and go to Send Invitations.
How do I check which guests are bringing what items?
To see what guests are bringing to your event, go to your host view of the Evite Invitation and click on the View Guest Responses link. This will take you to a page that shows you what your guests have chosen. You can get to the Evite Invitation by clicking on the event title under your Upcoming Events on your Home page.
Design Your Own
We have improved our Design your Own process to allow users to select from a gallery of Evite images or upload their own images. You can customize your invitation with our new-and-improved Design Your Own option. Choose an image from the gallery or upload your own! You can include a photo of the guest of honor or mix and match images to create your masterpiece.

How do I design my own invitation?
You can click on Design Your Own in the Evite Design Gallery. You can also click on "Design your own Invitation" while you are creating your invitation. You will be taken to the new Design your Own process. The first step is to select the background you would like to use. You can choose one of the designs provided by Evite or upload your own. You can now upload up to 2 MB files. Once you select a background you will be prompted to select a main image. You can choose a main image or upload your own. Then you can add "Design Extras" to your creation. The final step allows you to customize the colors in your design.
Do I have to select a main image or design extras?
No. You will see radio buttons at the bottom of the page that say "Do Not Include Main Image" and "Do Not Include Design Extras." For the Design Extras, you will need to specify if you do not want to include an accent image for the left or for the right. The only required step to Design your Own is selecting a background image.
Why are some main images and design extras recommended?
Based on the background you select, we recommend the images that fit best with the color of your background. You can select any of the designs, but we recommend images that match the color of the background.
Can I still upload my own images, or do I have to use the Evite images?
You can upload any images to be your Background, your Main Image, and your Design Extras. You can now upload files that are up to 2 MB. In the Design your Own process, you can browse your computer for graphics or pictures. Must be either a .JPG or .GIF maximum 2 MB .
How do I save the design I created for later?
Click the Save for Later button in any of the final steps and you will be taken back to the create page. From there you will need to save your invitation as a draft.
Can I edit the design I created?
Yes. When you return to the Create page for the event you have planned, you can click on the thumbnail that says "Edit Custom Design" or the link to "Edit Your Design."
Can I use CMYK colors?
Your JPEG must be saved using the RGB or sRGB color format in order to be uploaded. If the image is saved using CMYK colors, then our web servers will reject the file, and an error message will be displayed. The most common application for switching color formats in a JPEG file is Adobe Photoshop. To change the color format using Photoshop, simply open the image and click Image> Mode. Select RGB as the color mode for the image. Then save the file, and you should then be able to upload it to your invitation using the Design Your Own link.
How do I minimize tiling?
You must enlarge your image to 1024 width x 600 height by using a program such as Photoshop or any other photo program. Then, upload it again as a background image to your Evite Invitation.
I designed my own Evite Invitation, but now I decided to use an Evite template. What do I do?
Simply return to the Evite Design Gallery and select a new design. You will be warned that all your customizations will be overridden. Click OK and you will be returned to the create invitation page.
Payment Options/ PayPal
How do I set it up so that I can collect payments/dues for an event?
While creating an Evite Invitation, click on the Payment Options link, and enter a payment amount in the entry field under the option To Collect $. After you send your Evite Invitation, please register at PayPal. For additional questions regarding payments, please go to PayPal directly by clicking on http://www.paypal.com.
Where do I go to collect the funds for my event?
All questions regarding payment are handled by PayPal directly. Their customer support address is: http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_contact-general. Note: Evite does not provide Customer Support for Paypal. For any monetary issues please contact Paypal Customer Support.
Is it possible to add the payment feature after my Evite Invitation was sent?
Yes, just access your Evite Invitation and click on Edit Invite under Host Tool Box. Then click on the Payment Options link under "Other Options", and add the amount you would like to charge in the entry field and click on Save. To get to your Evite Invitation, go to your Home page and click on the Event title under My Upcoming Events.
Maps and Directions
How do I add a map/directions to my Evite Invitation?
When you enter in the full address of your event, a link to a map and directions is automatically included on your Evite Invitation. To ensure this map is correct, just type in the full address under Location and click on the word Map, and a map pop-up with your mapped directions will appear for you to verify. Note: Mapping is not available for Canadian and International Evite users.
What should I do if the map is incorrect or unavailable?
Evite's map and driving direction services are provided by Mapquest. If the map is incorrect in your Evite Invitation, please make sure the address is typed in correctly, and there is no additional information missing (cross streets, abbreviations). When you are finished editing your event details, please Save your Evite Invitation as a draft and check to make sure the map is correct. If the map is still incorrect or your address is invalid, please visit Mapquest to report a map problem or a new road.
Recurring Events
How do I schedule a recurring event?
In order to schedule a recurring event, you must click on the link to "Make this a Recurring Event." You must select a start date. All information for your recurring event schedule will be created for you based off that start date. You can schedule a weekly or monthly recurring event. The day of the week of your start date will be used to schedule your weekly or monthly event. If your start date is on a Tuesday, Tuesday will be selected for your weekly event. If you start date is the 2nd Tuesday of the month, your monthly recurring event will be scheduled on the 2nd Tuesday of every month you select. For a weekly recurring event, your event can happen on more than one day of the week. Example: My event occurs every week on Mondays and Wednesdays.
When are my invitations for each scheduled event sent out?
You can set when your invitations are sent. You can choose to send the invitations 3-6 days before each event. Reminders will not be sent for recurring events.
How far in the future can I schedule my series of events?
Recurring events can be scheduled for up to one year in advance. You cannot schedule yearly recurring events.
Why is a draft appearing on my Home Page?
A draft is created for the next event in your series so you have the flexibility to edit the event before it is sent out. Each time you send out your invitations for one event in the series, a draft is created for the next event. You have the option of sending the invitations for the event saved as a draft at any time. You do not need to wait until the scheduled send date.
How do I view the schedule of events or reply to the entire series?
Guests are now able to view the Ongoing Schedule from the Evite Invitation. There will be a link that says "View entire schedule." Guests' can now reply to the next event only, or to the entire series. In the reply box, there will be options to "reply to this occurrence only" or "reply to the entire series." As a guest, your reply will display on your Ongoing Schedule page.
How do I edit my event?
If an event has been created as a draft you will need to edit that event specifically. You can access it from your Ongoing Schedule page or your Home page. If you want to edit the entire series of events, the changes will not affect any drafts created. Your changes will appear in any future events that have not been created as drafts. On the Invitation page you can click on "Edit the Entire Series" under your Host Tool Box and you will be taken to the Ongoing Schedule page. To edit the entire series, you must click on "Edit the Entire Series" from your Ongoing Schedule page.
How do I change the day of the week my event occurs on?
To change the day of the week of your event, you must change your start date to be on the day of the week you want your series to occur on. Your end date will reflect the day of the week of your series.
If my series of events is coming to an end, how do I extend the series?
When your invitations for your final event in the series are sent out, you will be sent an email asking if you would like to continue your event. To continue your series, you can copy the event and create a new recurring schedule. You will then need to set a new recurring schedule for the series.
NOTE: You can no longer allow guests to suggest a date or time or offer payment options for recurring events. We apologize for any inconvenience. Also, reminder emails are no longer sent for recurring events. You can use the Send a Message to guests feature at any time to remind guests of details or changes to your event.
Guest List Max/Exemptions
Is there a limit to how many guests I can invite to an event?
Yes, we have established a standard guest list limit of 750 Evite invitations per account. Note: Creating multiple Evite Invitations for the same event is prohibited.
What do I do if I want to invite more than 750 guests?
Many factors are considered when allowing a host to invite more than 750 guests. We require information on your organization, the purpose of the event, the total number of guests you plan to invite, the correct email address the Evite Invitation was created under, and the title of your event. In addition, if you are active Evite user, we evaluate whether you have had at least a 50% response rate for current and past events. If a good response rate is not seen for the event you wish to be exempted from, we have the right to revoke your exemption status. Your exemption is on a per event basis. The purpose of this evaluation process is to ensure that Evite is not used as a SPAM tool. If you feel you meet these requirements please submit a request with the information above to Customer Service. Please read our Terms of Service for further information. Note: We have temporarily raised our exemption limit to 750. It will return to 500 after the holiday season. Thank you.
Email Me when Guests Reply
What happens if I opt into the "Email Me when Guests Reply" checkbox under the Guest list section?
You will be sent an email each time someone replies to your Evite Invitation. If you would like to be kept up to date on who is replying, you can be notified each time someone replies to your Evite Invitation. If you would like to only be notified when selected people reply, go to the Evite Invitation and click on "Email Me when Guests Reply" under the Host Tool Box section. From the popup window, you can select individuals from the guest list and be notified when those selected people reply to the Evite Invitation. From that window, you can also choose to stop receiving reply notification emails.
RSVP Options
Can I change the RSVP style? How can I offer questions that are more fun for guests to reply to?
While you are creating your event, you can select different RSVP styles. On the right side of your screen you will see a section called RSVP Style. You can use the pull down menu to select a Type. That type will fill in the options below, including the Yes, Maybe, and No options. You can also choose to write your own RSVP style.
Do I have the option of making an event mandatory? Can I leave off the RSVP feature?
No. You must allow your guests the option of posting an RSVP of Yes, Maybe, and No. You will need to let your guests know that an event is mandatory; the feature will no longer be available on Evite.
Advertisements/Alcohol
How can I prevent my Evite Invitation from having alcohol advertisements?
You can prevent your Evite Invitation from having alcohol and mature advertising while creating your invitations by selecting Just 4 Kids as your event type in the drop down menu. Have no fear, by doing so you will still be able to select any design from other categories in our gallery. Please note that if you have chosen an Advertiser template, such as BACARDI®, and still chosen the Just for Kids event type, there will (possibly) be alcohol ads associated with that template which overrides the event type.
How do I change the advertisement on my Evite Invitation after it has been sent?
If you would like to switch out the advertisement that appears on your Evite Invitation, just click on Edit Event Details, and change Your Theme by selecting a different Event type in the drop down menu. To see which ad will appear on your Evite Invitation, please make sure you Preview the invitation first then click on Update Now.
Is it possible to remove advertisements from my Evite Invitation?
No, to enable us to provide a free service to our end users we rely heavily on our advertiser's support. However, we do have a variety of ads and by clicking on a different event theme you can choose an appropriate ad to appear on your Evite Invitation.
Creating an Event URL
How do I access an event URL from my Evite Invitation?
Login to your Evite account and under the Guest Reminders/ Event URL section; you will be able to create an event URL. You will see an already prepared link that the system creates. All you have to do is enter some text into the field (no symbols or spaces), and copy and paste the entire link (Http: to your entered text) into your browser. Please be aware that if you would like to test this link's functionality, then you as the host will be prompted to log in first and then be taken to the Host version. The event URL will be accessible to your guests who will be able to post or change their reply.
Distribution Lists/Groups
How do I send my Evite Invitation to a distribution list or group address?
To send your Evite Invitation to members of a distribution list or group email address, you must enter the address into the guest list field as list:groupemailaddress.com, for example: list:group@evite.com. Your guests will be prompted to enter their name and email address to post their reply. If you do not enter it into the guest list as shown above, as each guest responds, their response it taken over by the next person who replies. To verify you entered your list/group correctly, you will see it listed in your guest list in the correct format.
Drafts
How long will my draft be saved?
Please be aware that your Evite Invitation will be saved in draft version until the event date you selected. If you still have not sent out your draft before the date you entered, it will be removed from your account. NOTE: All drafts will be removed from your account and from our database after 30 days. You will not be able to access the draft after 30 days.

Editing Guest Lists / Host Tool Box
How do I add guests to an Evite Invitation I've already created?
Please login to your Evite account, go to the Evite Invitation, and click on the Invite More People link under Host Tool Box. You will be able to add your additional email addresses and add a personal note in the email, if you like. To get to the Evite Invitation, you will need to click on the event title under My Upcoming Events on your Home page. You can also use the Invite More People link from the Evite envelope to invite guests. NOTE: Please do not forward your Evite link to others to invite them to events you are attending.
How do I remove a guest from the list and what will they see?
Login to your Evite account, click on the Evite title under My Upcoming Events, and under Host Tool Box there will be an option called Remove Guest(s). Just opt-in to the boxes next to the guests' names or email addresses you want to remove and click Update Now. This guest will no longer be able to access the Evite Invitation. If the guest does attempt to access the Evite link, it will take them to page that states "Sorry...you are no longer on the guest list for Your Event Title." If you would like to inform the guest they have been removed, you will have the option on this page to send them a message to alert them of this change.
How do I change/update a guest's email address?
To change or update a guest's email address, first you will need to remove the old email address from the guest list and then invite that same guest with the new email address. To do this, go to the Evite Invitation and under Host Tool Box section click Remove Guests. Select the guest you'd like to remove and click Update Now. Then, go back to the Evite Invitation and click on the Invite More People link under Host Tool Box. Add any new addresses and click Send Now. The Evite Invitation will be sent to the updated email address.
When I review my guest list status the total coming does not match to how many Yes, No, and Maybe responses I see under the categories, why?
As the host of an Evite Invitation, you will see the most accurate count of your guest list. So, when reviewing your guest list status the total count will include your invited guests and the guests they are bringing.
I have unfamiliar guests on my guest list, how do I know who invited them?
Please be aware that as with any email program, Evite Invitations can be forwarded to individuals, though we definitely discourage this. We provide a privacy option where guests are not able to invite others. While creating your Evite Invitation, click on Edit Guest List Options. You will see the question "Is it okay if your guests invite other people?" Select "No" if you do not want your guests to be able to invite others. If you see an unfamiliar guest on your list, click directly on the person's name/address and a window will pop up showing who did the inviting. However, if the guest has a Profile icon it will override the pop-up and take you to the guests Profile. If you only see one email address then it is possible that the Evite Invitation was forwarded to this person. A suggestion is to contact the guest directly to see who may have invited them.
Changing Event Details
Can I change the event details (e.g. time, date, location) after the Evite Invitation has been sent?
Sure, just Log in to your Evite account, and go to the Evite Invitation. Under Host Tool Box click on the link that says Edit Invite to change the time, date, and location of your event. Make sure to click on Update Now. NOTE: If you would like your guests to be notified of these changes, you will need to click on Send a Message to Guest/s under the Host Tool Box.
Can I edit guest's responses to my Evite Invitation?
Yes, just Log in to your Evite account, go to the Evite Invitation and you will see the Host Tool Box. Click on Edit Guest Responses, and choose which guest you would like to edit and hit Continue. You can make your changes or additions and remember to Update the page. NOTE: You will not be able to edit how your guest's names appear on the Evite Invitation.
How do I change the event Organizer to someone else?
To change the organizer of the event to someone else, the person you are transferring it to must be in the guest list and have an Evite account. Once this person is added to the guest list and the Evite Invitation has been sent, go to the Evite Invitation and under Host Tool Box click on Change Organizer. Enter the email address of the guest you would like to make Organizer and Update. The new Organizer will receive an email explaining the change. NOTE: Once you click Update, you will no longer be able to make changes to the Evite Invitation.
Cancelling Events
How do I cancel my event?
You can access all your current Evite Invitations in your Evite Homepage where you will see a list of all your active Evite Invitations under Upcoming Events. Click on the event you wish to cancel, click Cancel Event under Host Tool Box. You will have the option of notifying your guests of the cancellation be clicking on the Send a Message Now link BEFORE you finalize your cancellation by clicking the Cancel Now button. When guests try to access the Evite Invitation, they will get the following message, "Sorry, this event has been cancelled."
Delivery of Evite Invitations
When will my guests receive their Evite Invitations?
Evite Invitations are usually sent instantly, but on occasion it can take up to 24 hours for an Evite Invitation to be received. Please remember that some guests do not respond right away. You can view the status of your guest list if you Log in to your account and click on the title of the appropriate Evite Invitation. The "viewed" date will be displayed next to the guest's name, showing you when they have viewed the Evite Invitation, even if they have not yet replied.
How do I resend my Evite Invitation to guests who have lost/or have not received it?
To resend your Evite Invitation to your guests, Log in to your Evite account, click on the Evite Invitation, and under the reply box you will see the Send a Message to Guest/s link under Host Tool Box. Click on the link and click the Select/Enter More Addresses link to select the person's name you would like to resend to, and then enter any personal message you want to include and send. A link to the Evite Invitation will be included in the email.
Some of my guests haven't received their Evite Invitations. What happened?
If a guest has not received their Evite Invitations, please verify you entered their correct email address. There are a variety of possibilities why your Evite Invitation may not be going through to various email addresses. Some businesses have firewalls that prevent emails from coming through, or sometimes people have free email accounts (like Hotmail) that expire if not used on a regular basis, or have run out of email storage. Finally, some email programs treat emails via Evite as junk mail. Please check the filter settings in your email account to see if you are automatically deleting emails. If do not wish to turn off your filters/spam guard you can safelist Evite Invitations by adding our email address info@evite.com to your safelist. You have the option of resending Evite Invitations by:

1. Going into your Evite Invitation and clicking on the Send a Message To Guest/s link under guest replies. Our system will create a link for your guests to access.

2. You can create an event URL for your event and notify them by your personal email account. If you are in the create process - Click the Guest Notifications link under Other Options, and create a Event URL. You will need to fill in the text box after the URL given. If you have already sent your Evite Invitation - Go to your Evite Invitation, click on Edit Invite Details, and follow the steps above. Make sure that you keep record before submitting it to the system. Note-Guests who are already listed will not be able to use the URL since they already are recognized by our system as being invited. Tell your guests about the URL and that they can RSVP directly through it, and will not need to be notified from Evite by email. Guests who RSVP using the URL link will be prompted to enter their Names and Email Addresses.
How can I send an Evite Invitation to myself?
As the host, you cannot send an Evite Invitation to the same address that was used to establish your Evite account. However, you can preview the Evite Invitation, just make sure you have at least one email address on the guest list to view the guest version of the Evite Invitation. Another alternative is to send yourself a test Evite Invitation. If you have another email address, send your Evite Invitation to that email address and you will be able to see what it looks like.
Do I have to send my Evite Invitation now?
No, you can click on the Save button to save your Evite Invitation until you are ready to send it to your guests. Evite will save your invitation as a draft until you are ready to send it. You can find your drafts by logging into your Evite Invitation and going to your Home Page.
Sending Reminders
How can I remind guests about my event?
A reminder email is automatically sent to your guests two days before the event. You can adjust/edit this feature by clicking on the Change Guest Reminders/ Event URL link while creating your Evite Invitation. You can opt-in or out of which group you want to send to (Yes, Maybe, and Viewed/Not Responded) and use the pull-down to select a time to send. You can also use the Send a Message to Guest/s link within your Evite Invitation to remind them personally. Once reminders are sent once, the reminder status will automatically default to No Reminders. Note: Reminders can only be sent once per Evite Invitation.
How do I edit reminders after sending my Evite Invitation?
Please Log in to your account, and click on the Host version of your Evite Invitation. Locate Host Tool Box, click on Edit Invite. Click on the Change Guest Reminders/ Event URL link and you will have the option to edit the reminders. Use the pulldown menu to select how many days before the event you would like the reminders sent. If you prefer, you can select No Reminders and check/un-check Yes, Maybe, and Viewed/Not Responded. Remember to click on Update Now. Note: Reminders must be sent a minimum of 24 hours prior to the date of the event.
Host/Organizer Options
How can I add another host/organizer?
Our system associates only one host email address to an Evite account. Only one host/organizer will have access to the Host Tool Box. If you would like to change the Host Email associated with your Evite Invitation, please use the Change Organizer link under your Host Tool Box. If you would like to keep the Host Tool Box associated with your email, and would like to add more organizers in the "From" section of your Evite Invitation, just login to your Evite account, click on the Evite Invitation, click on the Edit Invite Details and Update Now.
I am the host/organizer, can I add my name to the guest list?
Unless you have an alternate email address to send your Evite Invitation to, you will not be able to appear as a guest on your Evite Invitation. This is because our system recognizes the email address that it was created under as the organizer. You can add yourself in the number of guests in the reply box so that the number of your "Yes" RSVP's will be accurate.
How do I export addresses?
You cannot export addresses from your Evite Contact Manager, but you can export addresses from an Evite Invitation to an Excel spreadsheet. If you are the event host/organizer you can go to the Evite Invitation and click on Export Guest List. You will need to click on Download Now. This will download guest list data in comma-separated format (.csv) that can be opened by Microsoft Excel and most other spreadsheet programs. The spreadsheet will have all the names listed with the following additional info in columns: Email Address, Date Responded, Status (attending), # of guests, and Comments.
Past Invites/ Archives
My event has passed, is my Evite Invitation gone?
No, your Evite Invitations will always be accessible and archived in your Evite account. Log in to your account and you will be on your Home page. Click on the link to Past Invites, and it will take you to a page with all your Past Invites, Host and Guest. NOTE: You will have the ability to see the Original Evite Invitation for 30 days, after this time you will only be able to see your event details.

Private Evite Invitation vs. Public Event
What is the difference between a Private Evite Invitation and a Public Event?
A Private Evite Invitation is an online invitation that is sent to people you know. A Private Evite Invitation is exclusive to those invited by the event Host or other Invitees. A Public Event is an online invitation that is open to the public and searchable in our Public Events directory. Any registered Evite user can post or view a Public Event.
Posting/ Editing a Public Event
How do I post a Public Event?
To create a Local Event, just click on the Plan an Event tab, and choose the Promote a Public Event option. You must complete the mandatory fields: Posted by, Event Name, Select a Category, Event Location, and Event Notes. When these fields are complete you will be able to post your event. Note: It is required to have a Profile in order to Post a Public Event. The Posted by field will pull the alias listed in your My Information page.
When I am planning my event, how do I search for a location to host at?
In order to Search for a Venue while planning an event, you will need to enter a keyword and the zip code of the venue you are looking for. The search function will match by exact name or with fewer letters. Unfortunately, the search will not pull up results if you enter extra letters. We are currently working to correct this. You can also search for a place to hold your event by clicking on the Places to Go tab. Note: You will need to contact the location (restaurant, bar, etc.) directly to work out the details of hosting your event there.
Can I have my guests RSVP to a public event?
There will not be an RSVP feature on public events. If you want to get an idea of who is planning on attending, you can ask guests to express interest in your event and leave a comment.
How do I contact the guests who have posted comments or expressed interest in my event?
To contact your guests, you will have to use your Evite Message Center. To get to your Evite Message Center, just click on your guest's name or profile icon, click the link to contact them, and enter your message and send. They will be sent an email to their email accounts to notify them of the message.
When I post my Public Event where will it be listed?
Your Public Event will be listed under the zip code listed in your My Information page, and the Category and sub-category you choose to list it under
Will my event post immediately?
Yes, your event will be posted immediately.
What kind of listings can I post?

Is there a posting limit?
There is no posting limit at this time, but we will be reviewing this option for future enhancements.
Can I charge for my event?
Yes, you are welcome to charge for your event, but Evite will not be held liable for any monetary transaction between host and invitee. The transaction is solely the responsibility of the host and invitee. We will not support the Paypal option for Public Events. It is the responsibility of the host to charge for the event, Evite will not facilitate the charges on our website.
What do I do if my event is flagged?
If your event is flagged you will receive an email notification. Your posting will go through a wait period in which our customer support team will assess your flag and decide whether your posting will remain or be removed permanently. If you feel your event was flagged inappropriately, please feel free to repost.
How do I cancel my Public Event?
To cancel your Public event, please Log in to your Evite account. You will be on your Home page. Under your Upcoming Events section, you will see your Public event, just click on the delete link next to the Event Title to process the request.
Will my guests be notified if I cancel my Public Event?
Should you need to cancel your event, you will be given the option to notify your guests.
Will my Public event be saved in my Past Invites page after the event date?
Unfortunately, Public events will not be saved in your Past Invites page after the posted event date.

Posting Guidelines for Public Events

Evite's Community Relations Team monitors Public Events to ensure quality events are posted. To minimize the chances that your event is flagged or disabled please follow these Posting Guidelines.

Event organizers and guests are completely and wholly responsible for working out the sale and exchange of goods or services. Evite has no liability for any events posted on its system and cannot assist or verify any transaction, sale or exchange of any goods or services conducted through Public Events. If a post receives too many flags it will automatically be put on hold or disabled (only one flag per person per post is counted).

To increase the chance of obtaining good responses or turnout to your posted Public event, please adhere to the following guidelines:
  • Event Category - You must list your event in the appropriate category. Your event may be pulled if it is posted in multiple categories or posted with excessive frequency.
  • Date - Please do not post an event more than 6 months in advance.
  • Event Title - The title must be a complete and detailed description of your event. Do not submit your listing in all capitals or mixed cases.
  • Event Notes - Event notes must be thorough. Notes cannot appear to be confusing, filled with random text, cut off mid-paragraph or inappropriate. Be sure to be detailed when describing your event.
  • Event Website - Only include websites that are related to your event.
  • Location - You must have a valid location for your event to be approved.
  • Image - Do not include any images or text that contains nudity, vulgar language, racist, hateful or bigoted language or images, or are otherwise illegal or inappropriate.
  • For Public Events, we do not accept:
  • Events without a valid location listed.
  • Event Notes that contain unacceptable language, images or are incomplete.
  • Evite Invitations that are Private but listed as a Public Event.
  • Do not post any personal events (e.g. birthday parties, weddings, anniversaries, housewarmings). If your event isn't of interest to the public, please don't add it to our directory.
  • Commercial use of Evite's service:
  • Commercial use includes, but is not limited to, use regarding any franchise, direct sales, multi-level marketing, "club membership", distributorship or sales representative agency arrangement or other business opportunity which requires an up front or periodic payment, requires recruitment of other members, sub-distributors or sub-agents.
  • Public Event listing must be in English. However, it may contain words in another language, if necessary, in order to describe the item or service for sale.
  • Public Events do not have the same functions as Private Events.
    For example, Public Events have the following unique features:
  • Guests cannot RSVP to an event. Guests can express interest in an event and leave a comment.
  • The Ask Your Guests and What to Bring features are not available in Public Events.
  • Hosts of Public Events will not see their guests names listed unless they leave a comment.
  • Guests will be listed by their names, usernames, or anonymously.
  • Guests must be registered with Evite to leave a comment on a Public Event.
  • Public Events will not be saved to your Evite archives.
  • Reminders and Recurring Events are not available in Public Events

Safety Tips from Evite
Evite is the fun, free online social planning destination complete with all of the tools needed to coordinate get togethers for private events or Public events. From planning a dinner party for friends, to finding something to do on Saturday night, to locating a tennis partner, Evite makes it easy to explore local areas, communicate, coordinate, and make decisions. Should you choose to get together with other Evite users offline, please use sound judgment and be responsible for your conduct. In both the virtual and real worlds, common sense is your best safety tool.
  1. Guard your anonymity - All correspondence between Evite users for Public Events takes place through our system, ensuring your true identity is protected by your username and Evite Message Center until you decide to reveal it. Never include your last name, email address, home address, phone number, place of work or any other identifying information in your RSVP messages and be aware of the information you include in the My Information page. Stop communicating with anyone who pressures you for personal information or attempts in any way to trick you into revealing it. Keep your password in a safe and secure place and never reveal your password to anyone.
  2. Exercise caution and common sense - Careful and thoughtful decisions generally yield better results. If you don't know a host who sent you an Evite Invitation for a private party or suspect that a host for a public event doesn't sound legitimate, act accordingly. Choose to attend events responsibly.
  3. Flag inappropriate Public Events - Evite reserves the right to remove a public event at any time. Additionally, you have the ability to flag an event if you feel strongly that it is inappropriate. At the bottom of each public event that is posted there is a red flag link to report abuse. Your note will come directly to Evite's customer service to take appropriate action.
  4. View Profile Pages - Reviewing a friend's or host's Profile page is a great way to learn more about that person and make a judgment about their personality and by extension their event.
  5. Attending Public Events - You are never obligated to attend any event. Choose of your own free will and go with your instincts. If you are under 18, be sure your guardian is aware of your decision to attend a public event. Your safety is their primary responsibility.
  6. Select Events In Safe Places - When you choose to attend a get together offline, always tell a friend where you are going and when you will return. Try to arrange for your own transportation, and, if possible, bring a friend or companion, especially if you are going to a venue or location that you are not familiar with.
  7. Take extra caution outside your area - If you are visiting a another city and use Evite's Local Events Directory to find a local event, check with your hotel or friends in the area to confirm the posted location is in fact nearby and safe. If the location seems inappropriate or unsafe, don't attend. Always make sure a friend or family member knows your plans and has your contact information. And if possible, carry a cell phone at all times. If possible, bring a friend or companion along.
  8. Get yourself out of a jam - Never do anything you feel unsure about. If you are in any way in danger (or suspect that you are in danger) in your surroundings, use your best judgment and get out of there. Excuse yourself long enough to call a friend for advice, ask someone else on the scene for help or slip out the back door and drive away. If you feel you are in danger, call the police; it's always better to be safe than sorry. Never worry or feel embarrassed about your behavior, your safety is much more important.

Unable to Open My Evite Invitation
Why can't I open my Evite Invitation?
Please check that you have copied and pasted the entire URL/web address in the browser window. Some email providers may truncate the links within the email. Or, if you have an Evite account, you can log into Evite and click on the Home tab to see your events, current and past. Note: You will only see the events that are attached to the email(s) address associated with your account.
Responding to an Evite Invitation
What if I'm not ready to reply?
If you are a registered Evite user, all your Evite Invitations, past and present, are available under the Home Tab. Whenever you are ready to reply, go to your Home page and you'll find your Evite Invitation under Upcoming Events.
If you do not have an Evite account, you have two options:
  1. You can register for an account and your Evite Invitation will already be saved for you under My Upcoming Events.
    Note: You will only see the events that are attached to the email(s) address associated with your account.
  2. You can save the Evite email you received and use the personal link to the invitation to respond anytime you wish prior to the event.
Can I change my reply once I've posted it?
Yes, just go back to the Evite Invitation and click the Change Your Reply button in the Reply Here box. Then follow the steps for adding a comment to post a new reply and/or comment.
Wrong Name Displayed
My name is incorrect on my Evite Invitation, what should I do?
Log into Evite and click on the Home Tab then My Information, make any necessary changes/edits then scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save.
How do I get my name to show up on the guest list, not just my email address?
Go to the Evite Invitation and click on the Add Your Profile link beneath your name. You will be asked to register. When you return to your Evite Invitation, the name you entered when you signed up for the account will now be displayed on this Evite Invitation and all future Evite Invitations that you may receive. If you would like to make any changes/edits to your name once you have signed up, you can make them in the My Information page.
Accessing My Events
How do I access an Evite Invitation I've received after I've deleted the email?
Log-in to Evite and go to your Home Page to access your current and past Evite Invitations. If you're not a registered Evite user, create an account using the same email address that the Evite Invitation was received under. Go to your Home Page and the Evite Invitation you received can be found under Upcoming Events.
Trouble Receiving Evite Invitations? Going into Junk/Bulk folder?
My Evite Invitations are showing up in my junk/bulk folder? How do I make sure they come to my email box?
To ensure that your Evite Invitations are not filtered into your junk/bulk folder, add info@evite.com to your Contact Manager. For Hotmail and MSN users, you can also add evite.com to your Safe List. If you or your guests are not receiving emails from Evite, it may have been filtered or deleted by a spam filter. Here are some tips to troubleshoot this problem, please try the following:
Hotmail:
  1. Check your 'Junk Mail' folder to make sure your Evite Invitation has not been moved there.
  2. Add Evite to your Safe List: Go to your inbox 'Options', click 'Safe List' and add evite.com to your safe list. This will prevent Evite Invitations from going to your Junk Mail Folder.
  3. Adjust your Junk Mail Filter level: Go to your Inbox 'Options', select 'Junk Mail Filter' and change your filter level to 'Default' or 'Enhanced'. Make sure you've selected the 'Deliver to Junk Mail folder and delete later' option.
  4. If your email was moved to your Junk Mail Folder, click the 'This is not Junk Mail' button, and select this option: 'I want to add info@evite.com to my Safe List so future messages from this address will be delivered to my Inbox, not my Junk Mail Folder.'
  5. Yahoo:
  6. Make sure your Evite email was not moved into your 'Bulk' Folder
  7. If your Evite Invitation was moved into Bulk Folder, click the 'Not Spam' button to notify Yahoo that this is not spam.
  8. AOL:
  9. Check your Mail and Spam Controls and make sure 'Allow mail from all senders' is selected
  10. Or select the 'Use a Custom Sender List' option: Choose the option 'Allow only the senders and domains listed below', and add evite.com to this list
  11. For AOL 9.0: Make sure your email from Evite was not moved to your 'Spam Folder'
  12. Corporate Domains:
  13. Contact your company's system administrator and ask to have the domain evite.com added to the safe or white list.
Email Me when Guests Reply
Is there a way to be contacted each time a person responds to an Evite Invitation?
Yes. When you are responding to an Evite Invitation, you will see a checkbox in the reply box that says "Email Me when Guests Reply (options)." If you opt in to that checkbox, you will be sent an email each time any person on the guest list responds. If you would like to only be sent an email when certain people respond, click on Options. This will launch a popup window that allows you to select individuals from the guest list and be notified when those select people reply to the Evite Invitation. You can opt out of this feature at any time by going back to the Evite Invitation and clicking on Email Me when Guests Reply under the Guest Options section. From the popup window, opt into "Don't send me any notifications" and click on submit.

Hot Spots
What makes something a Hot Spot for birthdays, Girls night out, etc?
A Restaurant, Bar, or other location will be listed as a Hot Spot if people are having specific types of events at the location. Evite is able to track this by the Event Type that is selected when the host is creating the online invitations and the name and address of the location the event is being held at.
Can I plan an event at a Hot Spot?
Sure! To plan an event at one of the Hot Spots you see, click on the image or name of the location. It will take you to detailed listing of the Restaurant, Bar, etc. Click on the Plan an Event Here link. You will then be able to send online invitations or promote an event to the public at the selected location. Note: You will need to contact the location (restaurant, bar, etc.) directly to work out the details of hosting your event there.
Searching for a Restaurant, Bar, or other Locale
How do I find a restaurant/ bar/ etc. in my area?
Go to the Places to Go tab. From there, you can search for your venue using the search box on the left side of your screen. First, you will have to select a Category from the pull down menu. You will also need to enter your city, state, or zip code. This will bring back general results for the category and location you selected.
How do I refine the results that my search brought up?
You can refine the results by selecting a Type in the pull down menu. You can also refine the results using the options provided on the left side of your screen.
My Favorite Restaurants and Bars
How do I save a restaurant or bar as one of my favorite locations?
From the Places to Go tab, you can search for restaurants or bars. If you see a location that is one of your favorites, click on its name. It will take you to the detailed description of the location. From there, you will see a button to Add to Favorites. The restaurant will be added into your favorite restaurants in your Profile. You can view your Profile by clicking on My Information.
How do I remove a restaurant or bar that I saved as a favorite from my profile?
To remove a restaurant or bar from your saved favorites, you will need to Log in to your account and go to your Profile. You will need to highlight the location that is saved under your favorite restaurants or local hangouts and delete it. Remember to click on Save when you are finished making any changes.
Writing a Review
How do I write a review?
If you see a restaurant, bar, or other location you are familiar with and would like to write a review about, all you have to do is give it a rating of stars, from one (1) to four (4). One is the lowest and four will be the highest rating. You can also let everyone know what the best item on the menu is. If you would like to add more information, click on the link to Tell Us More. Be sure to click on Submit when you are finished. Note: Please only write reviews about places you are familiar with.
If I write a review, who can see it and what information will they see about me?
If you write a review, any Evite user will be able to see it. They will see the rating you gave the restaurant/ bar, and any feedback you gave about the location. If you have a Profile, your alias and profile will display along with your review. If you opt to hide your Profile, or do not have a profile, the first part of your email address will display. (E.g.: alias@emailaddress.com will display as alias). Other users will only be able to contact you through the Evite Message Center. This maintains your privacy because you provide any of the information you would like to share. The alias that you create in your Profile keeps your personal information private.

Hot Spots
What makes something a Hot Spot for birthdays, Girls night out, etc?
A Restaurant, Bar, or other location will be listed as a Hot Spot if people are having specific types of events at the location. Evite is able to track this by the Event Type that is selected when the host is creating the online invitations and the name and address of the location the event is being held at.
General Questions
What are Public Events?
Public Events are events (i.e. festivals, volunteer opportunities, art shows, etc.) that Evite users can create and promote in our Local Events directory.
What is the difference between a Private Evite Invitation and a Public Event?
A Private Evite Invitation is an online invitation that is sent to people you know. A Private Evite Invitation is exclusive to those invited by the event Host or other Invitees. A Public Event is an online invitation that is open to the public and searchable in our Local Events directory. Any registered Evite user with a Profile can post an event to the public.
Why aren't there events in my area?
Since this is a new product, we may not have listings in your area yet. Please feel free to post your own event and be sure tell your friends about it!
I saw an inappropriate listing... what should I do?
If you see a listing or profile that violates our terms of services, you can report it to our customer service team by clicking on the 'Report Abuse' link found on the listing. If a post receives too many flags it will automatically be removed for our team to review.
What is my Evite Message Center?
A FREE Evite Message Center is set up for you when you create a alias and a Profile page. This messaging feature allows you to contact Evite users by clicking on the email link on Profile pages. This new feature is simple and helps ensure your email address remains private. Evite will notify you when you receive new messages. You must go to Evite to retrieve your messages. Messages older than 30 days are deleted.
What do I do if see an event I want to save?
If you are looking at Public Events on the Things to Do tab, and see an event you are interested in, you can save it to your Evite Calendar. Click on Add to Calendar from the event listing. The event will be saved to your Calendar. You can get to the month view of your calendar by going to your Home page and clicking on the Calendar link.

Public Event- Guest
I saw an inappropriate event... what should I do?
If you see an event that is inappropriate, using Evite for commercial purposes, or the event is in the incorrect category, please feel free to flag it. If a post receives too many flags it will automatically be removed for our customer support team to review. The host of the event will be notified via email when the listing has been removed.
How do I remove my comments I posted to an event?
Go back to the Public Event and highlight your comment in the box on the left. You can then delete your comment and click on Submit. The rating that you gave the event (number of stars) will still display.
How do I get my money back from an event that has been canceled?
You will have to contact the host of your event for transactions regarding money for Public Events. Evite will not be held liable for monetary transactions.
Can I post a comment anonymously to an event?
Yes, if you post anonymously, your alias and Profile will be hidden. Just check the box next to Display as Anonymous when you are posting your event.

Finding My Address Book
Where do I find my Address Book?
To get to your Address Book, log in to Evite and click on your People to See Tab. There will be a link to your Address Book on the upper right hand side of the page, just below the tabs. Clicking on that link will take you to your Address Book. You can also get to your Address Book from your Home page. Just click on the Address Book link just under the tabs on your Home page.
Import Contacts
How do I import addresses to my Evite Address Book?
Log into Evite and click on the Address Book link from your Home Page or your People to See Home Page. Click Import Contacts from the Address Book choices. You will be able to import addresses from the following places: Yahoo! Mail, Hotmail, MSN Messenger. Click on the appropriate one of these links, and then follow the instructions on the screen.
Importing from a web-based email provider
Importing from any of the web-based email providers will require you to login using your email address and password for the corresponding provider. You will need to enter that information and click on "Import Now." All of your contacts from that email provider will be returned, and you will be able to select which contacts you would like to import. To view all the results on one page, click "View All." Click on the "Add to Address Book" button to add those contacts to your Evite Address Book.
Importing from an email provider we do not support
Note: If you would like to import contacts from Outlook or Outlook Express, you will need to follow the steps below.
If you have contacts stored in an email provider that we do not support, click on "Other." You can then import your contacts using a CSV file (comma separated value). Some email providers will offer the option to export your contacts into a CSV format.
If your mail provider does not provide an export feature, you can create a CSV file by copying your contacts into an Excel spreadsheet and saving as a CSV (Comma Delimited) file. You can use our spreadsheet to enter your contacts. You will need to download the spreadsheet to your desktop by clicking on, "Use our spreadsheet to organize your contacts. Download it now."

You will need to use the following title to name each column in your spreadsheet.

- First Name
- Last Name
- Email Address*
- Home Number
- Work Number
- Mobile Number
- Home Address
- Home City
- Home State
- Home Zip
- Home Country

* Note: The only required field is email address.

You can then browse for that CSV file by name in the Browse area at the bottom of the page. If you cannot find it, make sure the drop-down menu next to "Files of Type" is set to All Files. Then click on "Import" below to import those contacts to your Evite Address Book.

All of your contacts from that email provider will be returned, and you will be able to select which contacts you would like to import. To view all the results on one page, click "View All." Click on the "Add to Address Book" button to add those contacts to your Evite Address Book.
Why are some contacts automatically selected for me, while others are not?
We will automatically select anyone that is not in your Evite Address Book. Importing a contact that you already have saved in your Address Book will override any contact information you have saved for that person.
What is the limit of people I can import to my Evite Address Book?
The total number of people that can be stored in your Address Book is 1,000. You can import contacts until you reach 1,000 people in your Address Book.
Add/Remove/ Edit Contacts
How do I add someone to my Address Book?
There are several places where you can add a contact to your Address Book.

Option 1: Log in to your Evite account and you can either click on the Address Book link from your Home page, or go to the People to See Tab. You can add a Contact to the Address Book on the left hand side of the page and click Add. You can also click on the Address Book link, located at the upper right side of the page. From the left side of the page under Manage Address Book, you can add basic contact information and click Save or click Add More Info to enter additional details.

Option 2: From the Evite Invitation creation process, you can check the box that says "Add new emails to Address Book" underneath your list of guests. Then any new addresses will automatically be added to your Address Book. You can also click the Add from Address Book link. At the bottom of the pop-up, there is an Add New Contact section from which you can enter basic information and click, Save or click Add More Info to enter additional details.
How do I delete someone from my Address Book?
There are several options to delete a contact from your Address Book:

Option 1: Log in to your Evite account and you can either click on the Address Book link from your Home page, or go to the People to See Tab. Select the contact using the check box to the left of the person's name. Click the Delete button either on the top or the bottom of the page. You will be asked to confirm the deletion. You may also delete multiple contacts using the same method.

Option 2: From the Evite Invitation creation process, click the Add from Address Bookk link. Select the contact using the check box to the left of the person's name. Click the Delete button either on the top or the bottom of this pop-up. You will be asked to confirm the deletion. You may also delete multiple contacts using the same method.
How do I edit someone's information in my Address Book?
Login to your Evite account and go to the People to See Tab. Click on the person's name whose information you would like to edit on the left side column of the Address Book list. This will take you to their Contact Information page. If there is anything you would like to change, click on Edit Contact Info. You will then be able to make any changes you choose to. Remember to hit the Save button when you are finished.
Creating and Editing Groups
What are Groups?
Groups are a way to organize your Address Book contacts. You can add contacts to a Group, give the group a name and pull in the Group email addresses all at once when you create an Evite Invitation.

Contacts can be in multiple Groups and the number of Groups you create is unlimited.
How do I create a group?
Login to your Evite account and go to Address Book under the People to See Tab. Once you are within the Address Book, there are two ways to create a Group:

Option 1: Click on the Create Group link on the left side beneath, Address Book Options. Once on the Create Groups page, you can add members to the group by selecting their names from the Contact List and clicking, Add. You may also add a person to a group from this page if they don't already exist in your contacts by using the Add to Group fields on the bottom of the page. Once you finish adding contacts to the Group, give your Group a name and click Save.

Option 2: Select contacts from your Address Book and use the Add to Group pulldown on the upper right side of your Address Book page. You will need to select Add to Group, Create Group, or any group names you've already created, and click the button to Add selected people to the group. This will take you to the Create Groups page. Once there, give your group a name. You can then add additional members to the group by selecting their names from the Contact List and clicking, Add. If you want to add a contact that does not exist in your Address Book, use the Add to Group fields on the bottom of the page. Once you finish adding contacts to the group, click Save.
How do I add a Group to my invitation?
From either the Address Book or the Add from Address Book link in the Evite Invitation creation process, select the desired group from the View Groups pulldown. Once the Group list appears, select individual members or all of the members (using the checkbox in the header or footer of the page) and click Add to Invitation.
How do I edit a group?
Login to your Evite account and go to Address Book under the People to See Tab. Using the View Groups pulldown in the Search Address Book section, select the group you wish to edit and click Go. Once the Group list appears, click the Edit link in the header. This will take you to the Edit Groups page where you can add and/or remove members from your Group and/or change the name. Once you finish making your changes, click Save.

Links Not Working
When I click a link on the Evite website, nothing happens. What can cause this?
To use many special links on Evite, your browser must be configured to enable Javascript. Javascript is allowed by default in all browsers, but "High Safety" security settings in Internet Explorer will disable Javascript, causing most commercial websites to stop working.

Below are browser-specific steps for enabling Javascript:

Internet Explorer 6.x:
Click Tools- Internet Options, then select the Security tab. Click Default level and make sure that Medium is selected. Click OK to apply your change, and refresh the page to allow Javascript links to work.

Netscape 7.x & Mozilla 1.7:
Click Edit- Preferences, then double-click Advanced. Select Scripts & Plugins and click Navigator. Select all of the checkboxes in the white box below. Click OK and refresh the page.

Opera 7.5:
Click Tools- Preferences. Click Multimedia, on the left-hand side. Make sure that the Enable Java and Enable Javascript checkboxes are both selected. Click OK and refresh the page.
Outlook Calendar
Can I add my Evite Invitation to my Outlook calendar?
To add your Evite Invitation to your Outlook Calendar, simply click on Add to my Outlook Calendar under Guest Options while you are viewing the Evite Invitation. You will see a browser popup titled, "File Download." You will see the options Open, Save, Cancel, and More Info. You will need to click on Open in order to save this Evite Invitation to your Outlook Calendar. The event will be displayed as an appointment in your Outlook Calendar. You will need to click on Save and Close in Outlook. There will be a link to your event saved in the detail section of the appointment.
Past Invites/Archives
My event has passed, is my Evite Invitation gone?
No, your Evite Invitations will always be accessible and archived in your Evite account. Log in to your account and you will be on your Home page. Click on the link to Past Invites, and it will take you to a page with all your Past Invites, Host and Guest. NOTE: You will have the ability to see the Original Evite Invitation for 60 days, after this time you will only be able to see your event details.
Registration/ Verifying your Account
What do I need to do to verify My Account after I register?
After you register, you will need to respond to the verification email to complete your registration. For your security, you won't be able to send an Evite Invitation or post a listing until we verify your email address. If you do not receive the verification email, please check your spam/bulk folder first. Or go back to your Home Page and click the 'Verify your account' link under your To-do List.
