Sports + television = perfect reason to party.
Set the mood. Choose one of these sports-themed invitations to create and send your invitation.

To decorate for the big event, all you need are comfortable chairs, a big TV (or several, preferably) and as much stuff with your team's logo as your place can hold.

Make sure you have enough seating for your guests (yes, having some people pull up a rug is fine) and provide unobstructed views for everyone. In other words, floor lamps are out. Position side tables around the room within easy reach of guests to aid snacking and giving people a place to stash their beverages.

The rest of the decorations depend on the type of party you're throwing. A strawberry-fueled morning Wimbledon party will have a much different vibe than an marathon viewing session for the Olympics or a football game, so take your cues from the game and your guests.

Keep the fighting on the playing field and out of your party by amassing as many TVs as possible. Put one in a separate room for any guests who are there more for the social aspects than the score. Place another in your kitchen so guests needing another drink or more food don't have to miss a minute of the action.

For maximum indulgence (and laziness), a mini fridge keeps drinks at the ready. Nice.
During commercials or other breaks, turn the sound down and fire up the stereo or the Wii. Some dancing, rocking out or video game action will help alleviate stress and get aggressions out if your team's losing.

We have some suggestions for your party mix below.
The main rules for food are to keep it hot, keep it filling, and keep it coming.

Meat in various forms, from sausages to prosciutto, is a key ingredient for rougher sports. Keep it simple by pairing it with potatoes and beans or dress it up by giving it an Asian or Middle Eastern twist.

Between refills, fill up with salted nuts, chips and popcorn.
