Live Earth

Throw a bash and inspire your friends to be a part of the solution in combating the climate crisis!

On 7/7/07 Live Earth will launch a massive, multi-year campaign to encourage individuals, corporations and governments to take immediate and sustained action to tackle the climate crisis. Live Earth will bring together more than 100 artists for 24 hours of music spanning all 7 continents to deliver to the world a call to action and the solutions needed to "Answer the Call."

YOU'RE INVITED! And so are your friends! Invite people over to watch the concerts, and have a good time. And be eco-responsible -- source food locally, and purchase organic drinks. This is a low-energy, low-carbon party that helps counteract global warming. But don’t stop at the party planning. Speak up! Talk to your friends about what you are doing and about your interests in the environment; you may be surprised to learn you’re not alone.

Keep your Live Earth décor simple. Don’t forget that this event encourages everyone to recycle, reduce and reuse. Decorations like streamers and balloons that will get trashed after your party don’t exactly say “earth-friendly.” Set up plenty of recycling bins for paper, plastic and aluminum waste instead of general trash cans.

Send guests home with green tips that encourage them to conserve. An energy-efficient compact fluorescent light bulb and a list of local curbside recycling services can be reminders to help jumpstart a greener lifestyle!

If you haven’t already, visit www.liveearth.org to find out more about climate crisis solutions and get the latest up-to-date information on all the events for your event!
The Live Earth concerts will be rocking, so make sure you're ready to turn up the music!

Let your neighbors know you're having people over for this fantastic event, and invite them join in the fun!

Encourage your guests to carpool, bike or take public transportation so that parking is reduced to a minimum and enviro-consideration is at a maximum.
Some Live Earth games are a fun way to reiterate the importance of protecting the environment. Here are some activities that will have your guests seeing green:

Create a flyer with suggested solutions to combat the global climate crisis and distribute them in your neighborhood (on 100% recycled or eco-friendly paper of course!)

Download a free banner/badge from www.liveearth.org for your website

Organize a "lights out" in your neighborhood as a symbol of solidarity with the cause

Have a letter-writing party, sending messages to your local politicians or utility companies about the need for more green practices

Create your own Live Earth playlists! Have your friends come up with their favorite songs that would make the perfect soundtrack to your event.

Test your guests' knowledge with an enviro-trivia game. Know how hybrid cars manage to conserve gas? How many tons of waste Americans produce each year? A little pre-party research at www.liveearth.org and you'll have plenty of facts to entertain and spread a little eco-awareness.

See which guest can turn trash into treasure. Use milk jugs, grocery bags, aluminum cans and other recyclables to create sculptures that can be used as centerpieces.
Be vegetarian for the day. The meat industry and farm animals produce a tremendous amount of methane and transportation-related emissions each year. Vegetables can be sourced locally and organic farming techniques eliminate much of the environmental damage associated with mass-scale agriculture.

Select environmentally friendly ingredients when shopping for your food. Some key words and phrases to look for include:

Organic
All-natural
Free-range
Fair-trade
Pesticide-free
